Can I bring a friend, family member or carer with me for moral support?

Yes of course. If you’d like to bring someone along the first time, that’s fine with us. They can join in with you as well and there´s no extra charge. If they like the keep fit classes and want to join in each time thereafter, then the normal £5 class fee will apply.

What should I wear?

You don’t need any special equipment, please just wear loose fitting comfortable clothes with gym shoes / trainers or other non-slip footwear. The venue is heated during the winter months.

I have or have suffered from a medical condition can I still come?

You should check with your GP if you have symptoms suggestive of heart, lung or other serious disease such as pain or discomfort in your chest, neck, jaw or arms during physical activity. Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting with exercise or exertion. We will need a note from your GP confirming your suitability to do low to moderate resistance-based exercise.

What qualifications do you hold?

Ty Paul has a broad range of qualifications including Level 4 Diploma in Lower Back Pain, Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral, Level 3 Advanced Personal Trainer, Level 3 Advanced Fitness Instructor and Level 3 Advanced Nutrition and Gav O’Brien has Level 3 Gym Instructing and Personal Training Diploma.

What happens at registration?

Before the start of your first class, you’ll need to complete a short confidential health and lifestyle questionnaire. This is a series of questions that you simply need to answer YES or NO to. If you answer YES to any of the questions, we may ask you for more details just to make sure the classes are right for you. You may wish to consult with your doctor if you have any concerns about starting regular keep fit classes, for example, if you have taken or are taking medication for high blood pressure.

Do you have public liability insurance?

Yes. Each trainer holds public liability insurance with minimum cover of £1 million.

Do you have current CRB reports available for inspection?

Yes. Each trainer has a current CRB report available for inspection.

How much does it cost?

The first class is free! Thereafter the Young At Heart Keep Fit Club is just £5 per class which you pay as you go. You’ll receive a loyalty card at your first class. Attend 7 classes and get the 8th one free. Plus, after class, please join us for a chat over tea and coffee.

I’m not quite 60, can I come to Young At Heart Keep Fit Club classes?

While the Young At Heart Keep Fit Club classes are designed for people aged 60 and above, anyone who thinks they would benefit from taking up regular exercise is welcome to attend.

Are the keep fit classes set in time to the music?

The Young At Heart Keep Fit Club classes use music to make it more fun, you do the exercises at your own pace. If that is in time to the music then great, if not, then that´s also great!

I’m a little unsteady on my feet, can I still come?

Yes, for each exercise there will be an option to do a variation of it seated or simply to use a chair to steady yourself. Some of the exercises will be specifically aimed at improving your balance and strength of your muscles, so that over time, you may no-longer require either the seated option or using a chair to aid your balance.

Are my details safe?

Yes. We take your privacy very seriously indeed. We would never share your details with anyone else. We adhere to all current data protection laws. If you decide to stop attending classes with us, just let us know and your details will be automatically deleted.

Can I get free advice about my diet and other exercise?

Yes of course you can. At the tea and coffee break after the class Ty and Gav will be available to answer any questions on diet and exercise to help you live a healthy active lifestyle.

Do I have to stay after class for tea and coffee?

No of course not. We just thought that adding a social aspect to our classes would make it all the more enjoyable. If that side doesn’t interest you, then please just come for the keep fit class.

Are you trained in first aid?

Yes, both Ty and Gav are trained in first aid.
